Since the 17th century, thanks to excellent access to water transportation, a great number of craftspeople settled in what is Adachi City today. They produced various commodities such as hammered blades (knives, etc.), tenugui hand towels, leather goods and many others. Such craftsmanship has been passed down for generations till today.
