Senior Citizens’ Halls

These facilities can be used by those 60 years of age or older. Various events, classes on hobbies and health maintenance programs are held to help senior citizens lead fulfilling and enriched lives. A user’s card is issued to first-time visitors. There are 47 of these facilities that share joint facilities with children’s halls in community centers and one joint facility with a Rojin Kaikan.

Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Closed: Senior Citizens’ Hall – Sundays and national holidays; Rojin Kaikan – Mondays and national holidays

Community Centers

These centers are operated independently by a managing committee of community residents. These centers have a children’s hall, senior citizens’ hall, after-school child care room and meeting room, and can be used in various ways for everyone from preschoolers to the elderly.

Municipal Libraries

There are 16 municipal libraries in the city, with a combined total of 1,700,000 volumes of books and 800 types of periodicals. There are approximately 9,000 foreign books at the Central Library. Borrowing books is free of charge. (Photo copying services are charged.)
Those borrowing books for the first time must complete registration procedures. To register, you must have some form of documentation that confirms your name and address (such as a Certificate of Alien Registration, health insurance certificate or student ID card). You will then be issued a library card on the spot. The library card can be used at any municipal library, Gender Equality Plaza, Consumer Center, Administrative Information Office and Adachi Industrial Center in Adachi City. Please bring the materials, such as books, you wish to borrow along with your library card to the counter.

Adachi General Sports Center

The General Sports Center is a facility that can be used by residents as a casual place to build and maintain healthy bodies.

Swimming Pools

Children in the third grade of elementary school and younger children must be accompanied by a guardian who is of high school age or older.
A guardian may not supervise more than two children.

Adachi Historical Museum

Childrenfs Science Museum

With the largest planetarium dome in the metropolitan Tokyo area, the planetarium teaches children about the expansiveness of space and time. The romance of outer space unfolds before our very eyes, with images of 25,000 stars of up to 7.4 magnitude.
The 40-minute show is presented four times a day on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. During summer, winter and spring vacations, the show is presented three times a day on weekdays at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. Admission is \100 for children and \200 for adults. On the second and third Saturdays of the month, admission for Adachi City residents is free.
