| Nursing Care Insurance is a program in which those who need nursing care are supported by society as a whole so that those who are recognized as needing nursing care can use the services with peace of mind. Everyone including foreign residents with a period of stay of one year or longer, who is 65 years of age or older, as well as those between 40 and 64 years of age who are members of medical health insurance, are required by law to enroll.
Nursing Care Services
Those who may use these services include (1) those 65 years of age or older who are recognized as needing nursing care or assistance in everyday life and (2) those between 40 and 64 years of age who are recognized as needing nursing care due to illness (specified disease) caused by aging. In either case, the maximum amount of benefit received is determined according to the category of nursing care officially recognized as being necessary (level of nursing care need).
